Oakland Fukuoka Sister City Association has organized a brief program and bell ringing for Wednesday, August 5th, to remember the bombing of Hiroshima. They have invited Reverend Bridge from the Buddhist Church of Oakland, Mr. Makoto Kachiu from the Hiroshima Kenjin-Kai, and San Francisco Consul General Maeda to join the event. The Mayor or another representative from the City of Oakland may also be able to join.
