The Torrance Sister City Association will hold its annual Bunka-sai Festival on April 20 and 21, 2024 from 11:00 am. to 5:00 pm. at the Ken Miller Recreation Center. Admission and parking are free. The festival features authentic demonstrations of tea ceremony, vocal and instrumental music, taiko, shodo, kimonos, martial arts, kamishibai (reading) and dance. Displays of bonsai, ikebana and Girl's Day dolls along with hands-on calligraphy and origami give guests an opportunity to learn from local teachers.

Proceeds from the festival fund our student cultural exchange program that sends eight high school students from Torrance and an adult leader to Kashiwa for a three-week visit in July. A reciprocal group will come in August for two and half weeks.
