The countdown is on - Bunka Sai 2025 is right around the corner, and we hope you'll save the date to join us! As many of you know, Bunka Sai is a Japanese Cultural Festival and Torrance Sister City Association (TSCA)'s big fundraiser for our summer Student Exchange Program.
What: Bunka Sai
When: Saturday, April 5, 2025 and Sunday, April 6, 2025
Where: Ken Miller Recreation Center
Why: To learn more about Japanese culture, while supporting TSCA's Student Cultural Exchange program and mission of promoting friendship, goodwill, and understanding through people-to-people connections.
About Bunka Sai: Presented by TSCA, Bunka Sai is a two-day Japanese Cultural Festival event that has free admission and parking, and is open to the public.
Throughout the weekend, there are authentic performances including (but not limited to): traditional dance, music, tea ceremony, calligraphy, flower arranging, martial arts, taiko, origami, story reading, kimono dressing, and more!
TSCA also hosts an Anime Contest for middle and high school students; all of the entries are showcased at Bunka Sai.
Don't forget your appetite (and cash payment). Swing by the food booths for a tasty BBQ plate lunch, vegetable yakisoba, chicken curry and rice, dangos (donuts), and more!
The TSCA Gift Booth has great deals on Japanese gift items, along with over 20 Asian-themed crafts and home goods vendors!
Proceeds from this event fund our student cultural exchange program that sends eight high school students from Torrance and a chaperone to Kashiwa in July for three weeks and hosts a delegation (of the same) from Kashiwa in August.
