SD-WISH and the SDYSCS invites you to join us virtually on Friday, August 5th at 4pm (PDT) for the 13th Annual International Peace & Humanity Day ceremony as we commemorate the lives lost and gong the San Diego-Yokohama Friendship Bell to celebrate this freedom and send our WISH for eternal peace.
The ceremony will feature messages from Hiroshima Prefecture Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki, Hiroshima Mayor Matsui Kazumi, Nagasaki Mayor Tomihisa Taue and SD-WISH co-founder Dr. Akiko Mikamo, along with the ringing of the San Diego Friendship Bell at 4:15 PDT (8:15am JST) by SD-WISH co-founder and Hiroshima survivor Mike Kawamura. This will be followed by a special video presentation produced by the San Diego High School Japan Club.
As part of the ceremony Dr. Mikamo’s film, “8:15 Hiroshima - From Father to Daughter” will be made available for free online viewing from August 6th-9th at https://watch.showandtell.film/watch/815hiroshima.
